Schliesser, Adolf J. Collection
Adolf J. Schliesser was born in Defiance County Ohio and was the second of his parent’s eleven children. In his early twenties Adolf joined the Concordia Seminary in Springfield, Illinois before entering the service in World War 1. Serving as a Chaplain, Schliesser was the first pastor of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod as requested directly from President Woodrow Wilson. This collection from the Concordia Historical Institute contains photographs and documents related to Schliesser’s war service.
