June 20, 1918. My dear Mother, We have got to our new destination and are now with our old outfit. It is certainly great to get back. We are located in the vicinity of Augers in little towns. This is the first time I have even had the experience of being billeted. It is not so bad. We are eating well & I have a nice place to sleep out in the woods. I am learning all the names of the French bugs. I expect anytime to wake up & find I have a snake for a bedfellow. On the way here I had a funny experience. We came to quite a large sized place

[page 2] - a city I suppose it could be called and about half of us got of to fill our water bottles. Well, when we went back the train had pulled out. We then got passes I saw the town & went on a regular passenger train to our destination. We arrived at midnight and were taken to a barracks. All our equipment was on the first train and since we did not meet the fellows that did not get left, we had no blankets. Well, they took us in & introduced us to some mice concrete floors. I saw that thot wouldn't do for OST as I hiked out & found me a nice hay stack. I didn't wake up until some-one started to jab a pitch fork in the hay & then I got out in a hurry. I went back to the Barracks & of course was last for breakfast. I convinced the cook however that I was very hungry & he gave me a fine feed. Well more later. Your loving son - Glen.
