O'Hare, Frank P. Papers

In 1912, Frank O'Hare became the editor of The National Rip-Saw, a socialist publication printed each month in St. Louis.  He was married to the prominent socialist Kate Richards O'Hare, who served time at the Missouri State Penitentiary for opposing the draft during World War I. Kate’s experiences as an inmate made her a strong advocate for extensive reforms in women’s prisons.  In 1922, the O’Hares, organized the Children's Crusade for Amnesty which helped the children of political prisoners and draft obstructers march on Washington for the release of their parents. 

This collection contains correspondence, news clippings, and published and unpublished writings of Frank P. O'Hare, and his wife Kate. The correspondence and writings concerns local and national news, political trends, and social reform.
