In Reply Refer to QMGMH 25 June 1953 Musbach, Carl Fred SN 107 308 Mr. John Pasley, Partner Tyler-Pasley Funeral Home 119 East Franklin Liberty, Missouri Dear Mr. Pasley: Receipt is acknowledged of your letter of recent date, regarding the furnishing of a Government bronze marker to be erected in memory of the late Carl Fred Musbach. You are advised that Public Law 871, 80th Congress, the authorization for the furnishing of Government headstones and markers, provides that they be placed at the graves of deceased members of the Armed Forces whose remains are interred therein. There has been no authority delegated whereby the Government may furnish a marker to be erected in a cemetery, as a memorial, when the remains of the member of the Armed Forces of the United States are not interred therein. For your information, the name of the above mentioned veteran is memorialized in the Chapel at Aisne-Marne, a permanent American Cemetery located in Belleau, Aisne, France, in honor and memory of his heroic service to his country. Sincerely Yours, James W. Gerard Lt. Colonel, QMC Memorial Division
