[October] 19 1918 Hello Frank, Am feeling fine, takeing it easy in the line again, a very quiet sector, I said in my last letter canned willie licked me, but I have found out since that I was mistaken, it was the gas working on me, unless you got enough gas to knock you out it wont bother you for several days, But oh boy when it does start, look out, you get diary at both ends. Description Private Edward W. Meier of St. Louis, Missouri, served with the 138th Infantry during World War One. Meier wrote his cousin-in-law Frank Baebler, also of Saint Louis, several humorous letters during the War. In this letter,Meir wrote that he believed that he had ben gassed.
