OCS 7519 OCS BHLW August 18, 1922. Honorable Selden P. Spencer, United States Senate. My dear Senator: Referring to your letter of August 11, 1922, regarding the detail of an officer to attend the unveiling on November 11, 1922, of the Missouri Monument at Cheppy, France, I am pleased to advise you that the Commanding General, American Forces in Germany, has been directed by cablegram to detail an officer, a native of Missouri if possible, to attend this ceremony, and to advice the War Department of the name of the officer designated. As soon as a reply is received, the Department will notify Lieutenant Colonel Norman B. Comfort, Chairman, Missouri Memorial Commission, giving him full particulars. I regret that it was necessary for the War Department to advise Governor Hyde that lack of funds prevents the detail of Major Koch for this duty. Very sincerely, (Sgnd.) John J.
