A.M.D.1. 30 [December] 1918 Sir, I am directed to inform you that you will be relieved from further duty with the British Forces and you should therefore report yourself by letter to the Liaison Officer U.S.A. Forces, Adastral House, Blackfriars, London E.C.4. who will send you instructions regarding your future movements I am, Sir, Your obedient Servant [signature] Major for Director-General Army Medical Service. Description John Franklin Hardesty entered the U.S. Army Medical Corps and volunteered to serve as a surgeon with the British Army during WWI. In March of 1918, he was captured by Germans in Amiens, France. Hardesty was imprisoned at Ratstatt and Villingen Prisoner of War Camps for eight months. In this letter, the Major for Director-General Army Medical Service, informed Hardesty that he was relieved from duty with the British Forces.
