750-U8 WITH THE RAINBOW DIVISION IN FRANCE GUNNING WITH A STOKES MORTAR in the woods of No Man's Land was one of the most interesting occupations of certain Rainbow Division men in the Bacarrat sector. The woods here shown is about ten miles northeast of Baccarat in the Forest of Elieux. The snapshot shows the mortar ready for firing. When the projectile is dropped into the barrel from the muzzle, the concussion sets off a cartridge which starts the bomb sailing on its way to Bocheland. (June 3, 1918)
