A BOCHE AIRMAN DOWNED IN THE VESLE ADVANCE A Boche aviator, who recklessly got close to the American firing line and crashed to earth with a wrecked plane and nine wounds from machine gun bullets. The portrait was snapped after American ambulance men had administered first aid.
Description
This photograph of a German pilot injured in the Vesle advance is one of several Signal Corps photographs in a collection compiled by Ruby Garrett. Garrett, a Kanas City lawyer, served as Chief Signal Officer of the 117th Field Signal Battalion, 42nd Division, during World War I.
