405 68 PRESSING ON TOWARD THE VESLE As American troops from the Chateau--Thierry district were pushing on toward the Vesle, this British armored motor car whizzed by bound for the battle line at forty miles an hour.

This photograph of a British armored vehicle bound for the battlefront is one of several Signal Corps photographs in a collection compiled by Ruby Garrett. Garrett, a Kanas City lawyer, served as Chief Signal Officer of the 117th Field Signal Battalion, 42nd Division, during World War I.
