Somewhere in France June 18, [1918] Dear Folks. Guess you have been waiting patiently for a letter from me for some time. I am well and feeling fine, am bulleted in a house in a certain little village along side of a cathedral, the French people sure treat us fine. Had one dandy trip, a smooth sea all the way accrost, have done some traveling since I left [Camp Doniphan] whish that I would tell you some of the places I have seen, but this letter has to be censored. I suppose Al has told you of our trip on Broadway in New York before I sailed was glad to see him He looked well said he expected a vacation and if he got it he was going back to [Kansas City]

[page 2] This is a beautiful country have seen some of the prettiest flowers here they seem to grow like weeds here at almost every cross road you see a statue of the Vergin or of Christ croosified at a place not far from where we are billited they have an altar built underneath where Mass can be said. Am haveing atime trying to learn a little of the French language but am not haveing much luck. Have a fine time swimming the hole bunch goes every day you know how I like to swim
