Camp Doniphan [October] 26 - 1917 Dear Mother: Receaved your letter [Wednesday], have been working like a slave since. [Wednesday] was Liberty Bond day a holliday for the 129th, had a big parade, football game, and athletics of all sorts, soldiers took part in everything our band was also in the parade, this was over at Lawton most all the boys went over, I was broke so did not go, all that did not go had to police camp, water and feed and such things, Captain said he would excuse us from all calls Saturday to eaven it up. Havent got pd yet, I heard they are going to cut soldiers salary to 15 a month like it used to be did

[page 3] Also was on feed detail this morning and believe me am sure tired loading and unloading. We loaded sacks of oats and hay, this work is supposed to be done by supply company they are short of men got 100 from the draft but havent got streightened out yet. Water is still scarse, for some reason is turned off from 4 to 6 for everyday had devil of a time yesterday couldent get water eaven to wash in of course the wind was blowing we came in from drill dusty and dirty couldent wash raised cain about that and then went to supper, had bacon sandwiches cooks couldent get water eaven

[page 4] to make coffee with the cain was raised right then. You know I told you about our tent well Col. Klem came along with an order that all tents must be 5 feet at the lowest ours was 6 inch short so had to tair it down have a new one with floor in now Cap is going to have inside covered with some kind of stuff so guess will keep warm while inside anyway. Dont know about gunner exam they are going to drop now on account of drafted men. Bob got cake from Mrs Decker today was a good one Am to have a picture taken if we ever get any money. Met a fellow from yesterday said he dident know any one

by the name you wrote me about We will be a little more crowded in tents, when the drafted get assigned to sections got a new fellow yesterday transferred over here from 3rd Reg K.C. says he dont like to walk, the 3rd takes a 5 mile hike every other day. Tell Mary that I have a dog toe his name is bull, followed us in from drill he is as bad as the cat at home cant keep him off of bunks. Well is time for beans so will have to close for this time with love to all. Frank Wright soon
