Camp Doniphan [November 30, 1917] Dear Mother. Receaved your letter also Dads Naomis and Dorothys also cards from Mrs Wilkes and Decker, sure glad to hear from you all, box came yesterday but it was a total reck it was mashed flat only 2 pairs and 3 apples were all togeather but I sure made up for it at mess time. We sure had some thanks giving never had so much to eat in all my life, we had a regular banquet

[page 2] one that the Baltimore would have to fight hard to beat, the mess hall was all decorated in red white and blue had autom leaves palm branches and cedar strung around the walls. Accrost one end they built a stage had a red curtin which is artillery color in the center was the letters Bat C 129 done with leaves and branches it sure was keen, had a niger jas band that played all after noon, we had bran new white peoples dishes to eat out of, cooks were all dolled up in white, every thing was

[page 3] set out on the table all you had to do was eat and that we did, we had turkey and every thing that goes with it eaven ice cream and cigars all kinds of fruit and cakes and pie, besides that every body and his brother got a box from home everybody eat till they could not stand on their feet. I had one picture taken like bobs but it dident come out any good you say you would like for me to have another one

[page 4] taken, you know that it one thing I dont like to do. I could hardly take cair of camera here havent any place to keep it. I havent any kneed of trunk, keep my clothes in suit case, and i had mechanic Bazzel make me a box to keep odds and ends in. Harry left hear yesterday for [Kansas City] as his wife is very sick. At last I am rid of the cold I had. You bet we have a good battery, Major Miles, who was Cap of C on the border last year, gave us a talk
