My dear General: In view of your letter of the 18th inst. just received, I will quote what the Secretary said to me in his letter of the 14th, but this must not be seen by any one except yourself. Description This letter to Enoch H. Crowder praised him for his work on the passage of the Selective Service Act. This document is part of a collection compiled by Enoch Herbert Crowder, the Edinburg, Grundy County, Missouri native who served as Judge Advocate General. Crowder devised the Selective Service Act in 1917 which drafted America's forces during World War I.
