Key word "CAPTAIN." [chart] The 2 letters must be either:- 1. Diagonally opposed to one another. 2. On a line with one another. 3. One vertically above the other. When they are as in 1, they become the letters in the opposite angles of the square or parallelogram. This applies to both ENCODING & DECODING. When they are as in 2, when ENCODING take the next letter to the right of When DECODING take the next letter to the left of each. When they are as in 3, when ENCODING take the next letter below each. When DECODING take the next letter above each. The letter "J" is not used. "I" used instead. ENCODE the following message:- Use as bogus letters X, Q, Y, & Z. "PROCEED TO CHERBOURG INSTEAD OF HAVRE."
