CONFIDENTIAL Not to be taken into front line. 35th Division 2nd SECTION G.S. 23rd. December, 1918. SUMMARY OF INTELLIGENCE. From 20h [December]. 22nd to 20h [December] 23rd. 1918. 1. GENERAL IMPRESSIONS OF THE DAY. Advance of the IX Corps toward the line - ST. MIHIEL-BOUCQ continued. II. ENEMY FRONT LINE. No contact with enemy on the front of 35th Division. 7th Division on our left reports no contact anywhere on its front extending from SAMPIGNY (inclusive) to a point in front of ST. MIHIEL. 28th Division on our right reports contact along its entire front extending from BOIS-de-VILLE ISSEY (exclusive) to PAGNY-sur-MEUSE (inclusive). III. ENEMY ORDER OF BATTLE. Hostile forces on the front of IX Corps estimated at seven divisions. Identifications disclose the presence opposite the 35th Division of the 5th Bavarian Reserve Division and the 11th Uhlan Regiment 42nd Cavalry Brigade - now dismounted sharpshooters. There is also an unidentified division in reserve. The 7th Division reports identifications on its front of the 6th Bavarian Division and 9th Uhlan Regiment, 6th Cavalry Div-now dismounted sharpshooters - with an unidentified division in reserve. Opposite the 28th Division there have been identified the 2nd Guard Division and 4th Hussar Regiment, 12th Cavalry Brigade - now dismounted sharpshooters. Presumed enemy order of battle on entire corps front shown on attached sketch. IV. ENEMY INFANTRY. No activity reported. V. ENEMY ARTILLERY. No activity reported. VI. ENEMY MOVEMENT. Friendly planes report hostile infantry and artillery columns marching south through ST. MIHIEL and XIVRAY at 15 hours VII. ENEMY WORK. None reported. VIII. ENEMY AERONAUTICS. None reported. IX. MISCELLANEOUS. Nothing to report. X. ACTIVITY OF OUR OWN TROOPS. This division has reached the general line - CHONVILLE (inclusive) BOIS de VILLE ISSEY (exclusive). Our outposts hold the general line - MALAUMONT (inclusive) - LEROUVILLE (exclusive) - VIGNOT (inclusive). By direction of the Chief of Staff. J.H. CABANISS, Major, Infantry, A.C. of S., G-2.
