Frankford, [Missouri] [March] 11th, 1918 – Mr. Clark: Washington D.C. Kind Sir: Your letter was received in regard to my son Donald Jones his present Address is Donald Jones Auto repair Dt. # 3 C. A. C. A C Ft. Via New York. Somewhere in France his last letter was dated [February] 9th he first enlisted Kanas City [Missouri] was taken Jefferson Barracks [Missouri] Then was sent to Fort Moultrie [South Carolina] Where he stayed until he was sent to France

[page 2] He was first in 5th Co Camp then changed to the 4th Co Camp Also changed to 2nd Co. C.D.C. and also changed again to the present place Auto repair Dt. As to his regiment – he never did tell me anything about it. His Commanders name where he was in Co 5 at [Fort Moultrie] [South Carolina] M.K. Description | In this March 11, 1918 letter to Champ Clark, Kathryne M. Jones of Frankford, Missouri answered questions about her son, Donald Jones. Champ Clark, a long-time resident of Bowling Green, Missouri, was a politician in the Democratic Party. He served as a representative of Missouri from 1893 to 1895 and from 1897 to 1921. From 1911 to 1919 he served as the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. Bennett Clark served as a Colonel during World War I and was Missouri State Senator from 1933 to 1945. |
