Personal. France, March 18, 1919. Honorable Champ Clark, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Washington, D. C. My dear Mr. Clark: I have received your letter of February 6th, concerning William H. Dudley, 3rd Heavy Artillery Mobile Ordnance Repair Shop, and am pleased to advise you that this soldier is now under orders returning him to the United States for discharge. Sincerely yours, John J. Description In this March 18, 1919 reply to Champ Clark, General of the Armies John J. Pershing confirmed that William H. Dudley, 3rd Heavy Artillery Mobile Ordnance Repair Shop had been sent home for discharge. Champ Clark, a long-time resident of Bowling Green, Missouri, was a politician in the Democratic Party. He served as a representative of Missouri from 1893 to 1895 and from 1897 to 1921. From 1911 to 1919 he served as the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.
