John J. Pershing letter to Champ Clark - July 6, 1918

Transcript

France, July 6, 1918. Honorable Champ Clark, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Washington, D.C. Dear Mr. Clark: I was glad to get your letter with regard to your son and to know that he is in France and under my command. I will try to make a point of making his acquaintance when I next see his division. You may rest assured that if at any time I can be of service to him, I shall be happy to do so. Many thanks for your kind words on the work that we are doing here and for your whole-hearted support in Washington, to which we owe so much. I appreciate it and only hope that the strain under which you have been working for so many months will not prove too wearing on you. It was very pleasant to hear from you. Believe me, Sincerely yours, John J Pershing
