Transcript

Office Sunday U.S. Government Navy Dept-Sunday [stamp] B.S.D.E.CO. GEN.MGR. [June] 4 1919 To Note Ans. Noted June 4, 1919 Dict. June 3. Rear Admiral C.W. Dyson, Bureau of Steam Engineering, Navy Department, Washington, D.C. My dear Admiral: - In a recent letter, signed by you, in answer to a complaint we made concerning the use of detailed blue prints of our submarine engine parts in the shops of the De La Vergne Machine Company, it was stated that the De La Vergne Company was practically a Government Institution. I am under the impression that the letter was dictated by someone else and signed by you without investigation. The enclosed clipping appears to justify the position we assumed in our letter of complaint that the De La Vergne Company is a competitor of ours. I am writing you this merely because we believe it will interest you to know the facts, and not with any intention of drawing out any further discussion of the matter. With kind regards, I am, Yours very truly, MR/JB Mr. Harris
