[McIntosh & Seymour Corporation letterhead] [stamp] Busch-Sulzer Bros Diesel Engine Co. [December] 21 1917 December 19th, 1917 Dear Mr. Harris: I am sorry that my efforts at bringing off the conference this week made so much trouble without accomplishing anything. Mr. Craig is usually on tap in New York. I have been more or less on the sick list for several years; have, in fact, been trying to retire as much as possible. Having had as many operations as I thought I could stand at my years, I am trying other methods, which are slow. The five or six daily treatments, that the doctor gave me to understand were all that would be necessary, I have just found are liable to run into a matter of months perhaps, so if there is a meeting here towards the latter end of next month, I shall probably necessarily be on hand. As you and Mr. Spear seem to be the difficult birds to capture, I would suggest that you arrange a day direct with him, and ask him to notify Mr. Craig and myself. The best way to reach me is Auburn, as anything sent to me there will be forwarded. Yours very truly, JA Seymour James R. Harris, Esq., Busch Sulzer Diesel Engine Co., St. Louis, [Missouri] P.S. If I am able to be present at the meeting I suggest that you and Mr. Rotter, together with Mr. Spear and Mr. Craig, lunch with me at the University Club, 5th Ave. and 54th St., at 12.30 in a private room, as originally proposed.
