Description This is a photograph of pilot Art Smith standing next to an airplane. The transcription on the reverse side reads: "Art Smith of Chicago, trick flyer 1918." The photo was taken from a scrapbook compiled by Carroll H. Bunch. Bunch was born in Clay County, Missouri and served as a Private in the 149th Aero Squadron during World War I.
