[Tuesday] nite. Dear Folks - Xmas is nearly past and I have hardly known it was Xmas - that is it was so much different from the ones I have spent. stood it fine. better than I expected - just kept going and would not think about it. had a fine dinner today - about the same as Thanksgiving - turkey and all the trimmings - tonite the Co. had a Xmas tree - the Red Cross sent a package to each man then we had bought something for each man so you see each man got at least 2 boxes - we didn't have many "blues" in the Co. all told it was a very good Xmas - received the box of presents - from you folks - everything was sure nice - needed all

of the articles too - wish you would buy me some things and send them to me - some more of those O.D. holken's - about 1 doz. 6 suits of underwear light weight - size 38 - Billie willl know the kind I wear. also send my Trigometry and Geometry. going to do some studying. Col. is sending me to school again - don't think I will start till about 1st of year. lasts from 4 to 6 weeks. Liason school or a communication school - it is a French school. everything is so high priced down here. also when papa comes down let him bring my watch - this thing I have isn't worth a ding. won't keep time - will have to get another later on

but not now. also got tohave a compass. will have to get it here as I will need it right away and then a certain kind I have got to have - so you see where your money goes in the army. they won't let you keep it. you give a check for the stuff you buy. received a fine box of eats from you - everything was sure fine. we had started officers mess now and sure have some good meals. you can quit sending me eats until I holler for some. except the cakes. I enjoy them but you see at the mess we have now the stuff I get from you folks I have to give away to the boys except the cakes we eat them between meals. saves a little postage also. this mess now will coast $25 or $30 00 a month - fine eating all the time so far -

thanks to all the children for their Xmas presents and I hope Ruth got each of you all something. I will feel disappointed if she didn't. Miss Bertha sent me a flashlight - sure was needing one and it was sure a good one - mighty fine of her - I sure always did have a great big warm spot in my heart for her and Clarence. glad you got the queen a nice present. nice in Clarence doing what he did. Elizabeth send me a field writing pad - folds up and pack it along same as a book. mighty nice. got a box of cigars from Paul - how long is he to be at home? would like to see him. Mr. Hamil was here today. also that Prunty fellow and one of the Sweargin boys.

never saw the heaps of mail that has come in the last 3 days - a truck load every hour drives up and unloads at the Reg. post office. I hope all of you folks had a very merry Xmas. I had a better time than I expected to have. so all around my first Xmas away was not so very bad. didn't get to see Honey enjoy herself. am feeling fine. had my first boil. had it lanced so it is O.K. now. didn't bother me just a small one. guess I will see papa soon. lookign for you - send a draft to you - guess ou will receive it O.K.
