Description Joseph Bergman was born in Przeworsk, Poland, Dec 13, 1879. He graduated from the University of Berlin in 1905 and became a physician. Bergman became a German Citizen in 1913. On March 11, 1916, during WWI, he was decorated with the Merit of the Golden Crown Medal by the Emperor of Austria for bravery. In 1935 he received Medal for the Warriors of the Front lines from the German Government for his service during WWI. In 1918, he was discharged from the Austrian Army.
