Transcript
[September] 22 Dear Home, I wrote you two letters last week which I thought would be the last for some time but I am off again. I have been getting lots of mail during the past week as the mail service is better. Some letters are only taking three weeks now where it took as much as six before. The raining season is still on. One hour the sun shines and the next it is raining.

Most of the night are perfectly clear. We have a full moon now which make the country very pretty at night. Am in a very hilly region at present which are mostly covered with grapes. They have wine here by the tank full instead of the bottle. It seems as if all they care for is plenty of wine and a little piece of bread for a good meal. A lot of the boys like it about as well as the natives tho and when ever they get where it is, they try to drink it all which is impossible. I met two of the boys from school a day or two ago but only got to see them for a few minutes. I missed a whole [ms illegible: 1 wd] of them the other night. Met them in dark and neither of us knew the other was near until the next morning. We are all waiting now for the end of this so that we can get back to school again. We will have some celebrations when

we get back again. Everything is looking bright now and the only wound I have received is where a bee got up my sleeve and stung four times before I could get it out. I had quiet an arm for a day or two but it is alright now. Must close now As ever Hamp Corpl. Hampton B.Ball Co.B. 326 Infantry A.E.F.
