July 29, 1918 Dear Home, I tried to write yesterday but just as I started I had to get a new gun and it took all after-noon to get it and clean it up. I got your letter written July first night before last. I don't know why you did as I have written every week except two since I came over and the ones I missed were while I was on the line. few miles from here. If he is I am going to look him up. You know he is in my old regiment. I just got out of the lines the other day and am now back for a rest. We got into a little shell fire while there but no one was hit altho they were hitting close. I am feeling as well as ever and am getting plenty to eat so you need not worry. The hardest part looks as if it was over now and I hope it is. I have met several travellers from Arkansas since I came over. As a whole they are very sociable. I am watching every mail for more news from you. Must close now as ever, Hamp. Co B 326 Inf. A.E.F.
