[January] 5, 1918 Dear Home, The new year is well on with no change in weather or place. I am still holding on to my place here in the school house but it looks as if my stay is going to be short. Not that I am leaving town but just changing quarters. I got your box last Sunday night. There is only one remark to make and that is the limit on the size. That candy certainly went to the right spot. In fact it was the first, of its kind or near so good, that I have had since I have been in France. I also got your let-

ter of [December] 7th this week. It is the first letter I have gotten from you for a long time. It looked for a while as if the mail was being stopped in U.S. but it is coming about right now. I have written once or twice each week since I came out of the lines last so you surely have heard from me by now. When you write next tell me what they are going to do with the S.A.T.C. Will all the boys come back home now or will they finish the year at school? I hope they will have all of that straight by spring because I have hopes of getting home in time to

start back to school in June. If nothing happens I expect to finish up this time with out a stop. Is F. going to get to finish the year at Columbia or will she have to stop? This war sure did fix the schools up in good shape. The only thing that happened this week was the 82nd Division show came to town one afternoon and evening. The show was pretty good considering every thing It was put on by boys from all over the division and was the first we have ever seen of its kind.
