[January 26, 1919] Dear Home, Well it is the same old story. Still in this old town of Courcelles. The rain has stopped and winter is now here. The ground has been frozen now for about a week and it is still cold. There is not a thing to tell except what I have told you before. I am still drilling the same as ever but from the dope floating around we are about thru at this place. We intend to go on the rifle range for a short stay and then (I hope) to the states. is one of the things I will have to tell you when I get back. I have been making drives against the "Cootie Allied Forces" and have reduced the number from about 500 a week in [October] to about four a week at the present time. I tried to preserve a bottle full to bring home but could not. I still have a number of articles to show you tho. I have the key to the great Hindenburg Line. It is among the most prized of my treasures. There is only a few but each has a history which I will tell you some time. I do not feel like writing to night so must close but will write again in a day or two. Hamp [censor signature]
