Title Stokes Mortar Round
Description British made 3-inch Stokes mortar round. This projectile weighed 11 pounds and had a maximum range of about 1,000 yards when fired from a mortar. Each regiment had at least six mortars which were usually hauled to the front by mules. The Stokes Mortar was a popular weapon because of its effectiveness at lobbing shells into enemy trenches.
