MEDICAL HISTORY OF THE 128TH FIELD ARTILLERY IN THE BATTLE OF ARGONNE. 1. The order of [September] 24th, 1918, to take up a position on the front near Neuvilly, found the 128th Field Artillery at Rarecourt, resting after having left the Vosges Front [September] 2nd, 1918 where it had been since [August] 18th, 1918. There had been one slight casualty in the Vosges Front. 2. The Sanitary Detachment consisted of three Medical Officers, three non-commissioned officers and twenty-eight privates. Its transportation consisted of two one-horse medical carts, each carrying a Combat Equipment, and one two-horse fourgon, carrying the Regimental Infirmary equipment and reserve dressings. To the organization was attached one four-mule Ambulance from the 110th Sanitary Train. 3. Before going to the Front the officers and men were called together and told what was expected of them. One Officer, one non-commissioned officer and eleven privates were assigned to each battalion and the Officers were told to handle their men to the best advantage but that they must get results. 4. The Regimental Infirmary retained one non-commissioned officer and eight privates and was always established near the Regimental P.C. The Surgeon was with the Regimental Commander and in close touch with the Battalion Aid Stations at all times, making frequent visits to them. 5. For the working out of this scheme, you are referred to the Battalion Surgeons
