Wilferth, Estella Papers
This collection consists of correspondence between Estella Wilferth and four of her male admirers who were serving in the army. Wilferth lived in Columbia, Mo. and received letters from "Happy" Frank W. Stegeman of Jefferson City, Company M, 356th Infantry; Theodore John Sanning, Company M, 356th Infantry; George A. Holmes of Osage, Company H 4th Infantry; and Thomas J. Mahan. The correspondents discussed various topics such as daily events, camp life, and general opinions of the war. Estella did not marry any of these suitors but instead wed Diederech S. Bockhurst in Boonville, Mo. in 1926.
