Through Military Channels, To Commanding Officer, 354th Infantry, American Expeditionary Forces, France Sir: I respectfully beg leave to submit this my application for an honorable discharge from Service in the army of the United States in order that I may return to my home if Jefferson County, Missouri, U.S.A., and manage and cultivate my mother

State of Missouri County of Jefferson SS The undersigned , Rufus W. Ruder, makes oath and says that he is acquainted with Mrs. Wilde and with her son, George Wilde, who is now in the military service, and that he was acquainted with Mrs. Wilde

Baker, makes oath and says that he lives in the neighborhood where Mrs. Caroline Wilde lives; that he is acquainted with Mrs. Caroline Wilde and with her husband, now deceased, and with their son, George Wilde, now in the military service; that he has read the application for release from military service, made by George Wilde, and that he has also read the affidavit in support of such application, made by Mrs. Caroline Wilde, that he is familiar with the facts set forth in both instruments and knows such facts to be true. Affiant further states that Mrs. Wilde is sick and in great distress; that she has no one to cultivate her farm and take care of her stock other than her son, George Wilde, and that she is certainly in great need of his help at this time. State of Missouri County of Jefferson SS The undersigned Caroline Wilde, makes oath and says that she is fifty-two years of age, that she lives in Jefferson County, Missouri, U.S.A., that she is the mother of George Wilde whose application for discharge from military service is hereto attached; that her husband died on the fifth inst., leaving her a widow; that she has one other son who is not old enough to manage and cultivate the farm and that she is seriously ill and has no person to manage and cultivate the farm and to harvest the crops during the coming season, save and except her son George Wilde now in military service; that she is now having to depend upon the charity of neighbors to take care of her farm and feed her stock and poultry. She therefore respectfully appeals to her son
