O.W. Davis letter to Dr. Henry Milton Whelpley - July 21, 1918

Camp MacArthur, Waco, Texas, July 21, 1918. Dear Dr. Whelpley: Was very much surprised to receive your letter of June 19th, and feel flattered that you should request something for publication. I enclose herewith a short article on the thing I thought would be most interesting to the readers of your magazine. Was somewhat handicapped by the limitations of the subject and dashed this off in my spare moments. If you will direct your correspondence to Miss Ruth Reed, c/o Nurses’ Quarters, Base Hospital, Camp MacArthur, Waco, Texas she will receive mail promptly. Told here of yours and Mrs. Whelpley’s message and she seemed very much pleased. Just at this time a letter would undoubtedly be cheerfully received by her, as she has been confined to the hospital for eight weeks. She is rapidly convalescing now and will be out again in a few more weeks. Sgt. M. P. Moeser will receive mail directed in care of the Dispensary, Base Hospital. Mr. Ochse promised to send literature on the “Knight”, but to date, Sgt. Moeser has not received it. If this has slipped their mind, will you please remind Mr. Ochse of it? The “Druggists” were duly received and eagerly read by all “ex-civilian” druggists and by me. Thank you, very much.

[page 2] The signs of the times point to an early departure for some of the boys here, and it is rumored that we are to go to Russia. All furloughs have been cancelled, which looks mighty promising. Please convey to the boys and girls in the house my kindest regards and yourself as well. Yours very truly, O. W. Davis
