Camp Funston, [Kansas] October 9, 1918 Prof. [Henry Milton] Whelpley Ph.G., M.D. St. Louis [Missouri] Dear sir: - I intend to make application for entrance to the Sanitary Officers Training School, therefore I ask that you kindly write to Lt James M. Cannon M.R.C. [Medical Department] 41st Infantry, Camp Funston, [Kansas] therein stating what your opinion of me happens to be. I really beleive that if I succeed being released from the 10th Division that I will make it. Sincerely thanking you in advance. I beg to remain, Very truly yours, Norman L. Gibson [Medical Department] 41st Infantry.
