England Dear Mr Ochse and [Henry Milton] Whelpley your very kind, and Welcome letter of August 20th received a few days ago, and I want to say here that a letter from the U.S.A. looks mighty good to a fellow over here, so appreciate the spirit which prompted a letter such a yours, and I am glad to know that everybody over there is putting their shoulder to the wheel in a way that will assure a grand and glamorous Victory at an early date. What do you think of the, “speed” at which the yanks are advancing

It strikes me Mr Ochse that they should be a little careful or the French authorities may “pinch” them for exceeding the speed limit, But thanks to the war God he has placed no limit, and I am sure each and every yank over here is working hard with but one thought in mind, and that is to down the hun, and do the job so well that he will stay down. I am feeling fine, and working every day like the work fine, and have now began to learn something of the birds of the air, and find them very interesting. Am very glad indeed to hear that business is keeping up so well with the old house, and will always be interested to know that you are all well and happy as this letter signifies

[page 3] I spent two very pleasant days in London last week taking in the sights seen many things of interest and had the pleasure of visiting the House of Commons, House of Parlament Tower of London West Minister Abbey Buckingham Palace, and Many other Government buildings. Also saw guard Mount of the Kings guard which was indeed a very pretty ceremony. Give all my friends in the house my best regards, and hoping to hear from you again at an early date.
