HEADQUARTERS CO. C. 154TH INFANTRY CAMP BEAUREGARD, [Louisiana] May 8, 1918 Meyer [Brothers] Druggist, [St. Louis, Missouri] Gentlemen: Your letter of May 3d received and I want to thank you very kindly for your thoughtfulness in sending me several copies of the good old Meyer [Brothers] Druggist which I was always so glad to get when I was in the drug business. It always contained lots of valuable information and kept a druggist well posted. I have been in the service since May. 28, 1917 and since my enlistment I have never been able to get hold of a copy of the Meyer [Brothers] Druggist and am very sorry to say I am way behind with the doings of the old drug world. I am not in the Medical Department for this reason: When I enlisted there was nothing for a druggist in the hospital branch, so I enlisted in the Infantry, the fighting branch of the service and I really believe that I am in the wrong branch of service, but as you very well know a druggist has a very poor showing in Military life. I really believe they should have the same consideration as our M Ds as we had to spend lots of time and lots of money to get what little knowledge we have. I should think we could get as much as a second Lieutenant, but I think that is the fault of the druggists of our country, not pushing things. I understand that there has been a bill introduced to make second Lieutenants out of Registered Pharmacists and I do hope it will go through as that will help the druggists out considerably and make it more of a recognized profession. If there is anything like that I would certainly like to have some information on the matter. Again I want to thank you for your kindness and I assure you that anything you could send me to read will be highly appreciated by me, and I will
