[September] 3 1917 Nevada [Missouri] Dear Doctor: Just a few lines to let you know about my army experience as I find it will say I like it fine out here in the open only you fall in and fall out too much at present imagine when I come back to St. Louis and hear a policemans whistle will line up amist a lamp post to get in line would love to hear from my classmates and also you Your Truly George J. Description George G. Bertels sent this letter to Dr. Henry Milton Whelpley. Dr. Whelpley was the dean of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and editor of the Meyer Brothers Druggist magazine. In this letter, Bertels described his experiences in the Army and complained about falling in and out too much.
