Washington D.C. [October] 21, 1917 Dear Dr. Whelpley, Arrived here Friday am getting located and say this is sure fine. Am again living more like a civilian boarding & rooming at a private home the [government] paying for it. Am assigned to American University Research laboratory. Thats about all I can say as this work is all secret. They have a wonderful laboratory and many of the greatest chemists of the country here. Am still wearing Uniform as are all others as we will still be in Military Service, under the Medical [Department]. We work from 9 to 430 - am going over to Smithsonian and look for Hunters Collection if I can find it this afternoon Give my regards to everybody at house and school also the [National] Club F. F. Berg 4118 Chesapeake St. N. W. Washington D. C.

In this postcard, Berg explained that he was working on a secret project at the American University Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C. |
