[September] 6 - 1918 Dear Dr. Whelpley. Your letter received last Saturday. So I’ll now report that I have called on Miss Falk. and sure enjoyed my visit with her. She has recovered from the attack of homesickness which all girls get some after they arrive in this town. Furthermore Dr. Caspan called on me last Friday and we had a nice long talk. sure is good to talk with some one from St Louis and hear about things there. This laboratory of ours has resolved itself into a workhouse and we sure have to go some to keep

up. The latest rumor now has it that I am to be given some consideration on 10th of this month but I am not at all nervous about it having been in the Army 1 year now I have become accustomed to these promises which never materialize. I thank you for the enclosed recommendation and hope to use it when time comes, Federer and visited Mr Hilton couple nights ago, and he agreed with me that Mr. Hilton conducts a real pharmacy Federer just got your notice (no 6 I think) that A.Ph.A. dues. were due and he requests that I tell you he is broke like everyone in the Army.

He and I split with each other during the month till we are broke then we have play poker or eat our face till next pay. We saw Mr. Hiltons letter together with yours to a certain delinquent in Ohio who came clean. it was good. I am having my A.Ph.A. Journal sent home for my files there. We have it here tho at S.G. library so am in touch with the Assn. I received my year book O.K. I suppose we will soon see Mackelden in Uniform now. and if this thing lasts long enough maybe yourself.

By the way. Dr. Can you tell me who the Liberty Mfg Co. are? We are getting a lot of stuff from them. I don’t see much Red D. stuff tho. What’s the matter? Think I have just about extended myself this trip so Ill stop now. if all goes well and I am able to arrange it I hope to see you on my trip thru St Louis to Colorado sometime in [October] unless I get shipped. In this letter, Berg wrote that he had been in the Army for a year and that the laboratory he worked in was very busy. This letter was written on St. John’s Rest Home letterhead. |
