[Philadelphia, Pennsylvania] [December] 6, 1918 Dear Friend Dr. I – Your postcard to hand tonight when I returned home from my post of Duty where I have been kept busy for the past 5 months. Was employed by the U. S. War Department at the Woodbury Bay Loading Plant as an Inspector & battery Chief of Ballistics Date & Stenciling – Terminated my period of service today, as we ceased loading powder for cannons yesterday. – Had a wonderful, interesting lot of experiences at this work & gained the Respect and confidences of my superiors - We will sail next [Saturday] at 6 P.M. for Jacksonville [Florida] & Expect to spend the winter in Florida – quite likely at St. Petersburg. Will drop you a card from there. Regards to yourself and Mrs W. from Mrs A & myself – Frank M. Apple

Apple described his position as an Inspector and Lottery Chief of Ballistic Data and Stenciling at the War Department. |
