Field Hospital Company 249, 13th Sanitary Train, Camp Lewis, American Lake, Washington. September 5, 1918 Meyer Brothers Druggist, St. Louis, Missouri, Gentlemen; Am enclosing payment for my subscription for this year, which is overdue. Please forward my magazine to the above address. When you last heard from me I was working at Van Buren Arkansas. But left there in May 1917 to enlist in the army. Since that time I have been in various stations and attached to various organizations. Came to this camp from Fort Riley Kansas on August 8th. Have been having the magazine forwarded to me by my father and, in a way, keeping track of the old friends at the Saint Louis College of Pharmacy. Would be glad to hear from any of the Sweet Sixteens that may be in a mood to correspond with a soldier. Have had very little of pharmacy since coming into the service. At present I am First Sergeant of an animal-drawn field Hospital and my work consists wholly of trying to unwind “Army Red-tape” and steering recruits into the ways of soldiers. To be brief in the matter, that’s all I’ve done since last December. Previous to that I was a tent-pitching leader and drill sergeant. Hoping that this finds the [Meyer Brothers] Druggist prosperous as ever and anticipating an early return to the good old trade shall draw this to a close. Respectfully yours; [signature] Frank D. Milner Sergeant 1st Class, Med. Dept. US Army
