[October] 7 1918 Some where in France Dr [Henry Milton] Whelpley. St. Louis [Missouri]:- Dear Dr: Just received your kind letter and sure am glad that the College is going to open again for another session. We are in the village of St. Saturnin in it is a very quaint village and the people here sure are old fashion There is not many young men left in France around here and all we see is old men & a few girls. They pull all thier wagons with oxen and the yokes are around the horns instead of around their neck. Well Dr. there is not much that I can write as we are only allowed to say certain things. Give my Kindest regards to

Dr. Caspari, Mr. Sugltan. Prof Hermm and all the others and I only wish that I could be back their again I am in charge of the Dispensary of this camp and do not have much hard work to do. I sleep in the dispensary on a straw tick & have a couple of blankets to Keep me warm. Also tell Mr Cochran, Mr Dryer, Mr Billie & Mr Carl F.G. Meyer and all the men I knew at Meyers [Brothers] hello for me and that it wont be long before I will be back shaking hands with you all. Well Dr I guess I will close as I got two letters from Dr Auersweld and have to answer them will write more later.
