[Parma, Missouri], [February] 5, [1919] The Whelpley Collection, Jefferson Memorial Bldg., St. Louis [Missouri] Dear Doctor Whelpley:- below is my service record which you asked me to send to you. The record is short, but I would have made it longer if I could have. – Enlisted in the Student Army training Corps at Washington University. Was inducted into the service on the first day of October 1918. I Was in training for artillery officers training camp. Remained at Washington [University] till December the Sixteenth, when I was discharged. Yours. Resp., Edwin V. Blackman.

Blackman provided a detailed record of his military service. This letter was written on Parma Drug Store letterhead.
