Receiving Ship, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, [New York], [February] 21, [1919] Dear Mr. Whelpley- Received your letter in closing statement that I had attended the college and thank you ever so much. The cause for such a protracted delay is due to the fact that I am no longer on the ship but at the above station. It seems however, that explicit and authentic as your open letter was set forth, the discharge officer demands a notary public seal and signature on same. You will do me a great favor if you will have one of your many friends who are notaries to kindly put

his seal on the enclosed letter and return same to me in stamped and addressed envelope. Just at present I have no suitable photo of myself and don’t feel justified in sending one. I think you will agree with me when I tell you I haven’t been connected with medical corps. However, if you desire one notwithstanding, I shall be pleased to send same. Please excuse this hurried note for have just received a note left here at the Y.M.C.A. Brooklyn, that my cousin, Corp Sewing M.C., has just returned from a German prison camp, and I am anxious to see him. Will write more at length

Description | Clarence H. Krousbien sent this letter to Dr. Henry Milton Whelpley. Dr. Whelpley was the dean of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and editor of the Meyer Brothers Druggist magazine. Krousbien asked Dr. Whelpley to have the affidavit he sent him notarized. He also mentioned his cousin who was a German POW. This letter was written on Y.M.C.A. letterhead. |
