Camp Mac Arthur [Texas], [September] 15, [1918] Dear Professor, Received your journals right along and was glad to get them. I got a lot of news out them. I am now in the Base Hospital, Ward 24 as a patient. I have been here nearly three weeks. There is nothing to do but sleep and eat and spend your time at the canteen and Y.M.C. A. I have to lay in bed 4 hours every day 9 am till 11 am and 2 pm till 4 and that is very tiresome as I do quite a bit reading then. Today is sunday

and that’s just like any other day except we can go to church at the Y.M.C.A. and Red Cross. There is no way of getting out here till they discharge you. Before I came to the hopsital I was recommended by a Captain for transfer to the medical department but have not got it yet. I suppose quite a number of last years junior class are in the army now, and I would be glad to hear from those that return to school next month. Having no more news I will close, I remain Pvt. Carl F. Seidlitz.
