Fort Riley Kansas. [November 1, 1918] Prof [Henry Milton] Whelpley. Dear Sir. Received your letter to day with the recommendation in it and wish to thank you. I feel confident with such a letter of recommendation that I will be able to enter the Medical Corps. There seems to be some misunderstanding about the examination paper of which I spoke in the previous letter. What I was referring to was the certificate announcing that I had passed the junior examination satisfactory. The certificate which I had was lost through the express when I shipped my clothes home. The weather here is still cold, but we have become somewhat accustomed to it now. Again thanking you and trusting that you can oblige me with the above mentioned

certificate. I beg to remain, Respectfully, Pvt. A.C.H, Hinzpeter, Base Hospital Section I. Ward 46 Fort Riley Kansas. P.S. Mr. Fabel has again requested me to write you about having another star added to the Alumni Service Flag. He also sends his best regards.
