same address [December 23, 1917]. Dearest Mother, I am going to write just a few lines to tell you how wonderfully pleased I was with the Christmas gift. The gloves fit perfectly & are exactly what I would have wished for if I had thought that Santa Claus would have been good enough to have given them to me. The cake makes a fine addition to my Christmas feast. I think we are going to have another like Thanksgiving Goodbye. I am going on
