Please put the clippings from the Jovian with my other papers. France [August 10, 1918] Dear Mother, I recieved your letter a few days ago but have been very busy have not had any opportunity to answer it till now. I am certainly glad to hear that everything is going so well. If the kids would stay down in the country for a while it would be a good thing for it would give you all a rest. Has Paul decided to change his job or join the army? I believe his time is up now isnt it? What is Plant going to do? Tell Raymond I advise him to join to navy. However if he insists on joining the army I believe the artillery is the best branch if he has his choice. Everything is about the same here. We recieved some papers from the states a few days ago & I was certainly

[page 2] glad to read the many proofs that they have at last woke up. You must not expect to hear much from me from now on. There is nothing much to write about & I will have little time to write, if I keep up with my job. I have recieved several letters from friends lately & they all talk about hoping we will be home soon. That is poor food for a soldier tho it is meant well. If they would say they hope you are fighting like you were [ms illegible: 1 wd] of twenty friends & doing everything to uphold the name of America it would do a lot more good. I am always very glad to hear from you. I am glad to hear Aunt Iola is well. I know you two must be a great help to each other. Give my love to all. Your loving son Glen.
