Description | Three students of the Students' Army Training Corps (SATC) at Washington University. One man is identified as Byron. During the war, Washington University's campus life drastically changed. With men joining the military, a smaller mostly female student body existed. They staffed Red Cross Units and produced dressings. War-related courses were offered such as radio communications, machine shop training, and blacksmithing. In 1918 the arrival of men in the Students' Army Training Corps turned Washington University into a training ground with every building on campus used for government purposes. |
