| Description | Interior of Washington University's Students' Army Training Corps (SATC) auto repair shop. During the war, Washington University's campus life drastically changed. With men joining the military, a smaller mostly female student body existed. They staffed Red Cross Units and produced dressings. War-related courses were offered such as radio communications, machine shop training, and blacksmithing. In 1918 the arrival of men in the Students' Army Training Corps turned Washington University into a training ground with every building on campus used for government purposes. |
